WAKE ME WHEN THE REVOLUTION IS OVER
By Mike Evans

An Islamic revolution is spreading throughout the world and is on the brink of becoming America’s greatest threat since the Cold War. The daily toll of innocents murdered by suicide bombings in Iraq has numbed the world to what is really going on there today. While this long-suffering country struggles to implement democracy after decades of dictatorship, the world has stopped applauding and has gone to sleep.

And while the world slumbers under the illusion that only Iraqis are at risk, what should be the cradle of Iraqi democracy is turning into the incubator of Islamofascism, a rising Islamist revolution that threatens to murder the world’s democracies in their sleep.

Too few Americans realize that the “insurgents” we are fighting in the streets of Iraq are not disgruntled Iraqis caught up in incomprehensible ethnic violence, but terrorists sponsored by oil-rich Iran — the leader, financier, and exporter of world Islamofascism. These terrorists are Hizbullah followers from Lebanon and Hamas members from Gaza, not to mention Iranians, sent by the mullahs of Teheran to sow civil war in the fledgling republic of Iraq.

We fail to realize that we are fighting a fanatical, distorted form of Islam whose practitioners are willing to blow themselves up in order to kill innocent people for their cause. They hope to chase democracy and freedom from the Middle East, then from the world at large. Iran, the leader of Islamofascism, is a regime with the mentality of a suicide bomber, an Islamic nation that is willing to sacrifice millions of its own citizens in the hope of wiping Judaism and then Christianity off the map.

When it is not undermining Iraq and exporting terrorism throughout the world, Iran strives to produce nuclear weapons and advance its missile technology until it can destroy Israel and cripple the United States and Europe. It already has ballistic missiles capable of reaching the East Coast of the United States.

Iran hopes to keep the international community debating long enough for it to develop a nuclear arsenal to use against the infidels. If the world lets them get away with this, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be a button-push away from what he has declared for years must be done: wiping Israel “off the map” as the first step toward a world without Zionism and America.

While nobody believes Iran poses an existential threat to the United States, everyone knows that terrorists detonating a suitcase-sized, nuclear-contaminated “dirty bomb” in Tel Aviv or New York could kill a million people.

Ahmadinejad has donned the mantle of Grand Ayatollah Khomeini, taken up bin Laden’s call, and is fostering an Islamic revolution aimed at the bloodiest clash of religious ideologies the world has ever seen: the final showdown of an extremist Islam versus Judaism and Christianity. The mullahs ruling Iran fully believe that Allah has pre-ordained their success; that they will establish an Islamic caliphate worldwide, and every knee will bow to Islam.

Ahmadinejad’s hero Khomeini is quoted in an 11th-grade Iranian high school textbook as saying: “I am decisively announcing to the whole world that if the world-devourers [the West] wish to stand against our religion, we will stand against their whole world and will not cease until the annihilation of all of them. Either we all become free, or we will go to the greater freedom which is martyrdom. Either we shake one another’s hands in joy at the victory of Islam in the world, or all of us will turn to eternal life and martyrdom. In both cases, victory and success are ours.”

What we don’t understand most of all is that victory in Iraq is not Iraqis finally policing their own streets, but halting the insidious spread of Iran’s Islamic revolution before it is augmented by the threat of nuclear weapons. Despite the heavy cost of the war against terrorism in Iraq, we should rather fight the Islamofascists there than in the streets of America.
